Nadal Wins US Open Tennis Championships Wearing $725,000 Richard Mille Watch

What a US Open Tennis Championships it was. The event ended today with Rafael Nadal taking the Grand Slam win – after spending nearly five hours on the court.  It was a difficult match between Daniil Medvedev and Nadal, who gave watch lovers a real thrill – every time he wiped the perspiration from his forehead – deftly showing off his $725,000 Richard Mille watch.

The fifth-seeded Medvedev, who was seeking his first men’s grand slam title championship, gave Nadal – who now holds 19 career major titles – a good fight. The 23-year -old Russian Medvedev just announced his affiliation as a brand ambassador for luxury watch brand Bovet 1822.

Nadal is brand ambassador for Richard Mille and could be seen wearing his watch –very prominently – during play. Having a brand ambassador wear his or her watch during play (or racing) is something Richard Mille insists on, so we have become used to seeing a bold watch on Nadal’s wrist on the court. The RM27-03 watch that Nadal wears is built to withstand the forces of his swing – time and again. The movement houses a small cage that the balance spring is in so that there is some spring (room for movement) when Nadal hits the ball.  For him, the $725,000 watch he wears may have become almost a good luck charm – since he has been a brand ambassador for so long.
